Acute Effects of Transcutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation on Autonomic Nervous System Activity in Healthy Volunteers: An Exploratory Study

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, Volume 45, Issue 3, Page 627-634, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Autonomic nervous system (ANS) imbalance may contribute to functional pelvic disorders such as overactive bladder (OAB). Transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (TTNS) is a non‐invasive therapy for OAB; however, its autonomic modulation mechanisms remain unclear. This exploratory study evaluated the acute effects of TTNS on ANS activity in

A Sirtuin‐1‐Targeted Gene‐Activating Tetrahedral DNA Attenuates Bladder Fibrosis by Restoring Mitophagy in Fibroblasts via the SIRT1‐FOXO3‐BNIP3 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, 9 February 2026.
The SIRT1‐targeted saRNA‐delivering tetrahedral DNA (TSA) treatment effectively upregulates SIRT1 expression, which subsequently promotes FOXO3A deacetylation. This deacetylation event relieves FOXO3A's transcriptional repression on the BNIP3 gene, thereby initiating PINK1‐PARKIN‐dependent mitophagy.

Designing and Implementing an Implantable Wireless Micromanometer System for Real-Time Bladder Pressure Monitoring: A Preliminary Study

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Many mini-implantable devices have been developed and fabricated for diagnostic and treatment purposes. Wireless implantable biomicrosystems provide a desirable approach for long-term physiological signal monitoring.

The Future of Urodynamics: Innovations, Challenges, and Possibilities

open access: yesNeurourology and Urodynamics, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 293-298, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Urodynamic studies (UDS) are essential for evaluating lower urinary tract function but are limited by patient discomfort, lack of standardization and diagnostic variability. Advances in technology aim to address these challenges and improve diagnostic accuracy and patient comfort.

2429 Optogenetic stimulation of corticotropin-releasing hormone expressing neurons in Barrington’s nucleus recapitulates the social stress voiding phenotype in mice

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Translational Science, 2018
OBJECTIVES/SPECIFIC AIMS: Voiding postponement is common cause of LUT dysfunction in which children void infrequently with large volumes. This condition is modeled in mice that are subjected to social stress who show decreased voiding frequency and ...

The presence of Transurethral Cystometry Catheter and Type of Stress Test Affect the Measurement of Abdominal Leak Point Pressure (ALPP) in Women With Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI)

open access: yes, 2010
Aims: Abdominal leak point pressure (ALPP) measurements in female SUI may show variability because of the variations in measurement protocols. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of cystometry catheter on ALPP measurement and compare the ...

Stepwise cystometry : a new method to investigate properties of the urinary bladder [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
The urinary bladder has a twofold function : 1. to store urine and 2. to expel it if necessary under complete voluntary control. The bladder can store various volumes of urine at a low and approximately constant intravesical pressure until capacity is ...
