Cilia regeneration in cytochalasin B treatedTetrahymena
Proceedings: Animal Sciences, 1988Cytochalasin B treated (20 μ/ml) and deciliated tetrahymenae consistently show an initial 1 h lag in cilia regeneration. The scanning electron microscopic observations reveal the altered cell morphology in cytochalasin B treated cells around this time.

Cytochalasin B inhibits the maturation of measles virus
Virology, 1983The release of measles virus was studied in the presence of cytochalasin B (CB), a drug that disrupts actin microfilaments. In the presence of CB, infected cells accumulated infectious virus while virus released from these cultures decreased drastically (up to 99% inhibition).

Cytochalasin B: Does It Affect Actin-Like Filaments?
Science, 1972An in vitro system was used to test the purported action of cytochalasin B. At concentrations 100 times those used for experiments in vivo, cytochalasin B did not cause the breakdown of F-actin, did not inhibit the transformation of G-actin to F-actin, did not inhibit the binding of heavy meromyosin to F-actin, and did not inhibit the adenosine ...

Cytochalasin B and the structure of actin gels
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1979Abstract We analyzed the structure of gels formed when macrophage actin-binding protein crosslinks skeletal muscle actin polymers and the effect of the fungal metabolite cytochalasin B on this structure. Measurement of the actin filament length distribution permitted calculation of the critical concentration of crosslinker theoretically required for ...

Effect of Cytochalasin B on Malingant Cells
1976By contrast to their untransformed parents, mouse cells transformed by SV40 are killed by cytochalasin B (Kelly and Sambrook, 1973), a drug which prevents cytoplasmic division and inhibits movement in animal cells (Carter, 1967). When exposed to cytochalasin B, normal cells become binucleated but further division is blocked and upon removal of the drug,

Towards the synthesis of cytochalasin B
1982Chapter I of this thesis deals with the syntheses of the key fragments for use in a proposed synthesis of cytochalasins A, B and F. The chiral precursor 86 of the macrocyclic fragment of the target molecules was prepared in good overall yield from (+)-citronellol using a new reagent which was developed for this purpose.
