The authors employed widely targeted metabolomics, microbial amplicon sequencing, and fermentation assays to investigate the microbiome 's influence on PCRC 's (pericarp of Citrus reticulata ' Chachi ') flavonoid profile over 0–19 years of storage. Based on the correlation analysis, solid‐state and liquid‐state fermentation, and catalytic activity ...

Mislocalization of Rieske protein PetA predominantly accounts for the aerobic growth defect of Tat mutants in Shewanella oneidensis. [PDF]
Shewanella oneidensis exhibits a remarkable versatility in respiration, which largely relies on its various respiratory pathways. Most of these pathways are composed of secretory terminal reductases and multiple associated electron transport proteins ...

Cytochrome P450 2S1 is Reduced by NADPH-Cytochrome P450 Reductase [PDF]
Cytochrome P450 (P450) 2S1 is one of the orphan P450s without a clear physiological function. Controversy has arisen as to whether it can interact with NADPH-P450 reductase and accept electrons. The reduction of 1,4-bis{[2-(dimethylamino-N-oxide)ethyl]amino}-5,8-dihydroxyanthracene-9,10-dione (AQ4N) by P450 2S1 was confirmed, and the NADPH consumption ...

A (2R,3R)‐butanediol dehydrogenase from Bacillus subtilis (BsBDH) is engineered for the enantioselective synthesis of 2‐hydroxycyclohexanone. A PASS computational design strategy is proposed to enhance the thermostability of BsBDH. Moreover, ESM‐1v combined with ISM is utilized for enhancing and inverting its stereoselectivity.

Engineering neuroglobin nitrite reductase activity based on myoglobin models
Neuroglobin is a hemoprotein expressed in several nervous system cell lineages with yet unknown physiological functions. Neuroglobin presents a very similar structure to that of the related globins hemoglobin and myoglobin, but shows an hexacoordinate ...

Highly diverse nirK genes comprise two major clades that harbour ammonium-producing denitrifiers [PDF]
Background: Copper dependent nitrite reductase, NirK, catalyses the key step in denitrification, i.e. nitrite reduction to nitric oxide. Distinct structural NirK classes and phylogenetic clades of NirK-type denitrifiers have previously been observed ...
