Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the exfoliative cytology which is the study of superficial cells that have been exfoliated or shed from mucus membranes, renal tubules, serous membranes, etc. Cells may also be obtained by scraping or washing mucosal surfaces, for example, cervix or endometrium.

Nasal cytology with deep learning techniques
International Journal of Medical Informatics, 2019In recent years, cytological observations in the Rhinology field are being increasingly utilized. This development has taken place over the last two decades and has proven to be fundamental in defining new nosological entities and in driving changes in the previous classification of rhinitis.

CYTOLOGY BY THE FILTER IMPRINT TECHNIQUE
Acta Pathologica Microbiologica Scandinavica Section A Pathology, 1972A modification of Volet's filter imprint technique was applied to a number of cytological specimens. The imprint technique was compared with the original membrane filter technique with a view to cellular density, cell preservation and detail, as well as diagnostic accuracy.

Role of Ancillary Techniques in Fluid Cytology
Acta Cytologica, 2019The cytologic evaluation of serous effusions may be challenging for a number of reasons. Distinction of benign, reactive conditions from malignancy represents the main focus when examining these specimens. The morphologic diagnosis of malignancy may be difficult due to the relative paucity of abnormal cells.

CYTOLOGICAL SCREENING TECHNIQUES
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1960To the Editor:— Dr. Frank C. Coleman of the College of American Pathologists, in his presidential memo of April, 1960, states that an editorial on cytological screening techniques inThe Journal, March 12, page 1165, "leaves the impression that mail order cytology is as effective as a cytologic program carried out by private physicians." He counsels ...
