Insights into the Mode of Action of the Sactibiotic Thuricin CD
Thuricin CD is a two-component bacteriocin, consisting of the peptides Trnα and Trnβ, and belongs to the newly designated sactibiotic subclass of bacteriocins.

Flow cytometry sorting of cells infected with African swine fever virus
The African swine fever panzootic is continuing to spread, and the number of affected countries and material losses are increasing. In particular, India, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, Greece and Bhutan joined the list of ASF infected countries in 2020 ...

The dual nature of TDC – bridging dendritic and T cells in immunity
TDC are hematopoietic cells combining dendritic and T cell features. They reach secondary lymphoid organs (SLOs) and peripheral organs (liver and lungs) after FLT3‐dependent development in the bone marrow and maturation in the thymus. TDC are activated and enriched in SLOs upon viral infection, suggesting that they might play unique immune roles, since

Machine Learning Approaches to Automated Flow Cytometry Diagnosis of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia [PDF]
Flow cytometry is a technique that measures multiple fluorescence and light scatter-associated parameters from individual cells as they flow a single file through an excitation light source. These cells are labeled with antibodies to detect various antigens and the fluorescence signals reflect antigen expression.

DNA image cytometry on sections as compared with image cytometry on smears and flow cytometry in melanoma [PDF]
DNA measurements of 130 melanomas were carried out by flow cytometry (FCM) and image cytometry (ICM). ICM was applied to cytological preparations of fresh material (cICM) and to sections of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue (sICM). The DNA ploidy, the DNA index of G0/G1 peaks (DI), and the proliferation index (PI) were used to compare all the ...

Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects nearly one‐third of the global population and poses a significant risk of progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Here, we discuss the roles of hepatic dendritic cell subtypes in MASLD, highlighting their distinct contributions to disease initiation and progression, and their ...

Flow Cytometry Quantification of Transient Transfections in Mammalian Cells [PDF]
Flow cytometry is a powerful quantitative assay supporting high-throughput collection of single-cell data with a high dynamic range. For flow cytometry to yield reproducible data with a quantitative relationship to the underlying biology, however, requires that 1) appropriate process controls are collected along with experimental samples, 2) these ...

Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.
