Flow cytometry as a tool to identify Mycobacterium tuberculosis interaction with the immune system and drug susceptibility

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2000
Flow cytometric analysis is a useful and widely employed tool to identify immunological alterations caused by different microorganisms, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis. However, this tool can be used for several others analysis. We will discuss some

Application of Machine Learning for Cytometry Data

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Modern cytometry technologies present opportunities to profile the immune system at a single-cell resolution with more than 50 protein markers, and have been widely used in both research and clinical settings.

Cytometry of cyclin proteins [PDF]

open access: yesCytometry, 1996
Cyclins are key components of the cell cycle progression machinery. They activate their partner cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and possibly target them to respective substrate proteins within the cell. CDK-mediated phosphorylation of specific sets of proteins drives the cell through particular phases or checkpoints of the cell cycle.

Identification of functional and diverse circulating cancer‐associated fibroblasts in metastatic castration‐naïve prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...

Utility of cytometric parameters and índices as predictors of mortality in patients with sepsis

open access: yesInfectio, 2021
ntroduction: A comprehensive cytometry assessment in the critical ill patient shows modifications in cell lines that estimate severity and mortality in sepsis. The objective of this study is to determine the utility of different cytometric parameters and

Comprehensive immune profiling of patients with advanced urothelial or renal cell carcinoma receiving immune checkpoint blockade

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) are used in the treatment of urothelial and renal cell cancers. While some patients may have exceptional responses, better predictive biomarkers are needed.

Machine Learning for Flow Cytometry Data Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Flow cytometry mainly used for detecting the characteristics of a number of biochemical substances based on the expression of specific markers in cells. It is particularly useful for detecting membrane surface receptors, antigens, ions, or during DNA/RNA expression.

ROR1 Flow Cytometry [PDF]

open access: yesBIO-PROTOCOL, 2013
ROR1 is a receptor tyrosine kinase family member studied for its roles in development and cancer. Here we describe a protocol for analysis of ROR1 surface expression in acute lymphoblastic leukemia immortalized cell lines by flow cytometry.

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

Circulating tumor cells in metastatic breast cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors – a biomarker analysis of the ALICE and ICON trials

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.
