Cytomixis in Pollen Mother Cells of Polygonum tomentosum Schrank.

open access: diamondCYTOLOGIA, 1995
Cytomixis, representing the migration of chromatic material from one cell to another, was observed in PMC's of Polygonum tomentosum Schrank. Cytomixis was observed at all stages of meiosis, but became less frequent in the later stages of meiosis. Direct nuclear fusion and cytoplasmic connections between cells were noted, so that a series of PMC's were ...

Chromosome count, male meiotic behaviour and pollen fertility analysis in Agropyron thomsonii Hook.f. and Elymus nutans Griseb. (Triticeae: Poaceae) from Western Himalaya, India

open access: yesCaryologia, 2020
Present cytological study records existing chromosome number diversity, their male meiotic course and pollen fertility analysis in the two wheatgrass species of tribe Triticeae Dumort. (Poaceae) from Western Himalaya, India. Agropyron thomsonii Hook.

ENIGMATIC INDUCTION OF CYTOMIXIS IN ALLIUM CEPA ROOT MERISTEM BY AGLAIA EDULIS ROXB. LEAF EXTRACT AND ITS PHYTOCHEMICAL RATIONALE

open access: yesAsian Journal of Pharmaceutical and Clinical Research, 2020
Objective: The present study aims to analyze the potential of Aglaia edulis Roxb. leaf extract to induce cytological aberrations in Allium cepa root meristem and to determine the phytoconstituents in the extract.

Induced cytomictic crosstalk behaviour among micro-meiocytes of Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub. (cluster bean): Reasons and repercussions

open access: yesCaryologia, 2020
Cytomictic behaviour of chromosomes among pollen mother cells was observed in mutagenic studies in cluster bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.). The study of pollen mother cells (PMC) revealed various chromosomal aberrations among which cytomixis ...

EMS induced intercellular chromatin transmigration in Papaver somniferum L.

open access: yesCzech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2013
The phenomenon of chromatin migration was observed during microsporogenesis in an ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS) treated population of poppy, which is an important medicinal plant.

The role of cell selection for pollen grain fertility after treatment of barley sprouts (Hordeum distichum L.) with UV-B irradiation

open access: yesActa Biologica Slovenica, 2011
UV-B irradiation of barley sprouts within the range of 0.5-4.3 kJ/m2 induced an increase in the number of chromosome aberrations in the root meristem and pathologies in the reproductive system.

Cytomixis in Pollen Mother Cells of Medicago sativa L [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Heredity, 2003
Cytomixis (i.e., chromatin migration between meiocytes) has been detected in many plant species, but not in Medicago sativa spp. In the present study we report the identification of a few cytomictic alfalfa plants. Those plants, the "mother plants," were selfed and crossed with a normal control plant.

Cytomixis and associated meiotic abnormalities affecting pollen fertility in Clematis orientalis

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2010
Present cytological investigations from the cold desert regions of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur (India) record the first ever tetraploid (2n=32) chromosome count and cytomixis in Clematis orientalis L. var. acutifolia Hook. f. et Thoms.

[Retracted] Leaf Rolling and Stem Fasciation in Grass Pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) Mutant Are Mediated through Glutathione‐Dependent Cellular and Metabolic Changes and Associated with a Metabolic Diversion through Cysteine during Phenotypic Reversal

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
A Lathyrus sativus L. mutant isolated in ethylmethane sulfonate‐treated M2 progeny of mother variety BioL‐212 and designated as rlfL-1 was characterized by inwardly rolled‐leaf and stem and bud fasciations. The mutant exhibited karyomorphological peculiarities in both mitosis and meiosis with origin of aneuploidy.

Cytomixis in pollen mother cells of Papaver dubium L.

open access: diamondCYTOLOGIA, 1988
Cytomixis was recorded during microsporogenesis in Papaver dubium L., a member of the family Papaveraceae. The phenomenon was observed in all the stages of meiosis. Further, it was found that not only the frequency of cytomixis but the amount of chromatin transferred reduced with the advancement of meiosis. The pollen fertility was found to be affected
