Identification of Proteins Involved in Carbohydrate Metabolism and Energy Metabolism Pathways and Their Regulation of Cytoplasmic Male Sterility in Wheat

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2018
Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) where no functional pollen is produced has important roles in wheat breeding. The anther is a unique organ for male gametogenesis and its abnormal development can cause male sterility.

Functional parameters of spermatozoa obtained by a new selection device

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study compares density gradient centrifugation and the LensHooke CA0™ device for sperm separation. DGC requires multiple steps, specialized equipment, and technical expertise. In contrast, the CA0 device offers key practical and methodological advantages, resulting in a faster, simpler, and more affordable sperm selection method.

Plant Mitochondrial Genome Evolution and Cytoplasmic Male Sterility

open access: yes, 2017
Mitochondria are responsible for providing energy currency to life processes in the molecular form of ATP and are therefore typically referred to as the power factories of cells.

Transcriptomic and Proteomic Analysis of Shaan2A Cytoplasmic Male Sterility and Its Maintainer Line in Brassica napus

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2019
Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) lines are widely used for hybrid production in Brassica napus. The Shaan2A CMS system is one of the most important in China and has been used for decades; however, the male sterility mechanism underlying Shaan2A CMS ...

A novel strategy for creating a new system of third‐generation hybrid rice technology using a cytoplasmic sterility gene and a genic male‐sterile gene

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, 2020
Summary Heterosis utilization is the most effective way to improve rice yields. The cytoplasmic male‐sterility (CMS) and photoperiod/thermosensitive genic male‐sterility (PTGMS) systems have been widely used in rice production.

Advances in plant male sterility for hybrid seed production: an overview of conditional nuclear male sterile lines and biotechnology-based male sterile systems

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Male sterility forms the foundation of hybrid seed production technology in field crops. A variety of genetically controlled male sterility/fertility systems starting with cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS), genic male sterility (GMS) including conditional

PEPPER (CAPSICUM ANNUUM L.) CYTOPLASMIC MALE STERILTY [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture, 2002
In the present study the molecular basis and mechanism of pepper cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) and its restoration system (Rf) has been characterized in detail. Pollen fertility of five CMSs (No. 201 to 205), four restorer lines (No. 206, 207, 209 and

(Molecular analysis of cytoplasmic male sterility) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
We have determined the actual RNA sequence of four mitochondrial genes: pcf, nad3, rps12, and coxII. Because plant mitochondrial proteins cannot be predicted from DNA sequences, the actual primary structures of the encoded proteins were unknown. We have gained information concerning the process of RNA editing. Editing can occur before splicing.
