Synthetic Strategy for mRNA Encapsulation and Gene Delivery with Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research utilizes the ZIF‐8 for the encapsulation and intracellular delivery of nucleic acids, specifically mRNA, for applications in gene delivery. Integrating PEI addresses the issue of mRNA leakage from ZIF‐8, resulting in the delivery and expression of green fluorescent protein (GFP) in vitro and firefly luciferase in vivo.

Physical mapping and candidate gene prediction of fertility restorer gene of cytoplasmic male sterility in cotton

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2018
Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) is a maternally inherited trait failing to produce functional pollen. It plays a pivotal role in the exploitation of crop heterosis.

Microbubble‐Controlled Delivery of Biofilm‐Targeting Nanoparticles to Treat MRSA Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, an effective strategy using microbubble (MB)‐controlled delivery of biofilm‐targeting nanoparticles (BTNs) for removal and therapy of methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) biofilm infections is introduced. In vivo delivery of MB with BTN is demonstrated to silence key bacterial genes involved in biofilm formation (icaA), bacterial ...

A mitochondrial protein associated with cytoplasmic male sterility in the T cytoplasm of maize [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1987
Mitochondrial DNA in the T male-sterile cytoplasm (cms-T) of maize contains an open reading frame (ORF 13) associated with the T type of sterility. Antibodies raised to a chemically synthesized oligopeptide corresponding to ORF 13 were used to establish the expression of a 13-kDa protein from this reading frame.

Nanobody‐Decorated Lipid Nanoparticles for Enhanced mRNA Delivery to Tumors In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a targeted mRNA‐LNP platform engineered with anti‐PSMA nanobodies for prostate cancer therapy. Using different in vivo models, the authors demonstrate selective uptake and mRNA delivery in PSMA+ cancer cells. However, while targeting is enhanced, mRNA delivery efficacy is limited by tissue penetration, tumor necrosis, and immune ...

HETEROGENEITY OF MAIZE CYTOPLASMIC GENOMES AMONG MALE-STERILE CYTOPLASMS [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics, 1978
ABSTRACT Maize mitochondrial and chloroplast DNA's were prepared from normal (fertile) lines or single crosses and from members of the T, C, and S groups of male-sterile cytoplasms. Restriction endonucleases HindIII, BamI, EcoRI, and SalI were used to restrict the DNA, and the resultant fragments were electrophoresed in agarose gels. The

The Propensity of Pentatricopeptide Repeat Genes to Evolve into Restorers of Cytoplasmic Male Sterility

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) is a widespread phenotype in plants, which present a defect in the production of functional pollen. The male sterilizing factors usually consist of unusual genes or open reading frames encoded by the mitochondrial genome.

Nanocarrier‐Based Targeting of Pattern Recognition Receptors as an Innovative Strategy for Enhancing Sepsis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent progress in nanocarriers targeting pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), including Toll‐like and NOD‐like receptors, for enhancing the treatment of bacterial sepsis and related complications. These nanomedicines deliver antibiotics and anti‐inflammatory agents while modulating immune responses.

NOX2 Contributes to High‐Frequency Outer Hair Cell Vulnerability in the Cochlea

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study first identifies NOX2 as a differentially expressed gene related to oxidative damage in the apical and basal turns through single‐cell RNA sequencing. NOX2 gene knockout mitigates OHCs damage caused by neomycin and noise and enhances Nrf2 expression and nuclear translocation.
