Cleansing the cytosol

Science, 2021
Microbiology Most human cells, not just those belonging to the immune system, mount protective responses to infection when activated by the immune cytokine interferon-gamma (IFN-γ). How IFN-γ confers this function in nonimmune cells and tissues is poorly understood. Gaudet et al. used genome-scale CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing to identify apolipoprotein L-3

Census of cytosolic aminopeptidase activity reveals two novel cytosolic aminopeptidases

Medical Microbiology and Immunology, 2012
Activation of CD8(+) cytotoxic T cells is crucial for the adaptive immune response against viral infections and the control of malignant transformed cells. Together with activation of costimulatory molecules like CD3 and CD28, CD8(+) T cells need activation of their unique T cell receptor via recognition of foreign peptide epitopes in combination with ...

CYTOSOLIC AND NON-CYTOSOLIC CARBONIC ANHYDRASE ENZYMES FROM BOVINE LEUCOCYTES

Preparative Biochemistry & Biotechnology, 2001
In this study, carbonic anhydrase (CA) enzyme has been purified and separately characterized according to bound form in 4 steps as outer peripheral, cytosolic, inner peripheral, and integral from bovine leukocyte. Affinity chromatography has also been used for purification of the enzyme in four steps. CA has been found for each step.

Isolation of Cytosolic Ribosomes

2016
This chapter describes a method of plant cytosolic ribosomes isolation typically used for further proteomic studies. Detailed description procedures including plant material disruption, various centrifugation steps, sucrose cushion centrifugation, and quality control of preparation are provided.

Estimates for cytosolic concentration

American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 1984
Rectificatif a l'article «Changes in cytosolic ionized calcium induced by activators of secretion in GH 3 cells». Une nouvelle estimation de la concentration en calcium a permis de constater qu'il faudrait diviser les valeurs precedemment obtenues par ...

Rat Cytosolic Epoxide Hydrolase

1986
Rat liver microsomal and cytosolic epoxide hydrolase may be distinguished through differences in substrate specificity: styrene 7,8-oxide is preferentially hydrolyzed by the microsomal form, while trans-stilbene oxide is the preferred substrate for cytosolic epoxide hydrolase. Large interindividual differences in the specific activity of Sprague-Dawley

Decoding cytosolic Ca2+ oscillations

Trends in Biochemical Sciences, 2011
A rise in cytosolic Ca(2+) concentration is used as a universal signalling mechanism to control biological processes as diverse as exocytosis, contraction, cell growth and cell death. Ca(2+) signals are often presented to cells in the form of Ca(2+) oscillations, with signalling information encoded in both amplitude and frequency of the Ca(2+) spikes ...

Keeping ERK Cytosolic

Science's STKE, 2000
Some G protein-coupled receptors, like the proteinase-activated receptor PAR2, can activate extracellular signal-regulated kinases without inducing translocation of the activated ERK to the nucleus. DeFea et al . found that the activated PAR2 receptor formed a complex with β-arrestin, Raf-1, and activated ERK1 and ...
