Evaluation of Hemoadsorption Capacity of the CytoSorb Adsorber for Toxic Doses of Diclofenac and Meloxicam in Porcine Plasma

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Apheresis, Volume 41, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The objective of this in vitro experimental was to determine the utility of hemoadsorption (HA) using the CytoSorb adsorber to remove meloxicam and diclofenac from porcine plasma. For this purpose 12 1‐L aliquots of porcine plasma, 6 units were spiked with 293 μg/mL (262–320 μg/mL) diclofenac and 6 with 42.8 μg/mL (41.4–44.7 μg/mL) meloxicam ...

Successful use of haemoperfusion therapy in an adult horse with hepatic encephalopathy and cholangiohepatitis

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 38, Issue 6, Page e307-e314, June 2026.
Summary A 4‐year‐old, 520 kg, American Quarter Horse broodmare, approximately 90 days in foal, was presented to Texas A&M University Teaching Hospital for suspected liver disease. Based on clinicopathological values and hepatic abnormalities noted ultrasonographically, the mare was presumptively diagnosed with cholangiohepatitis.

Improved bilirubin reduction with therapeutic plasma exchange and haemoperfusion in a dog with immune‐mediated haemolytic anaemia

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, May 2026.
Abstract A 6‐year‐old spayed female Golden Retriever mix was diagnosed with immune‐mediated haemolytic anaemia. Initial treatments included immunosuppression and blood transfusions. With acute mentation decline and rapid increase in serum bilirubin, therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) was initiated.

Excessive Apixaban Concentrations in a Bleeding Patient Treated With Pharmacological Reversal and Extracorporal Removal—A Case Report

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 14, Issue 2, April 2026.
Excessive apixaban concentrations in a bleeding patient leading to impaired coagulation and treatment with pharmacological reversal and extracorporal removal. ABSTRACT In trauma, even therapeutic apixaban levels can significantly exacerbate bleeding.

Plasma Adsorption Perfusion (BR‐350) Versus Open Albumin Dialysis (OPAL) for Hyperbilirubinemia in Hepatic Failure in Cirrhotic Patients

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 50, Issue 4, Page 610-624, April 2026.
The therapy with PAP using BR‐350 resulted in a significant decrease of bilirubin concentrations. The median relative reduction of bilirubin was comparable between PAP and OPAL (47% vs. 40%, p = 0.29). The crossover comparison between the single session of PAP using BR‐350 and OPAL revealed similar relative reduction rates of bilirubin.

Isavuconazole Treatment in a Mixed Patient Cohort with Invasive Fungal Infections: Outcome, Tolerability and Clinical Implications of Isavuconazole Plasma Concentrations

open access: yesJournal of Fungi, 2020
Isavuconazole (ISA) is a triazole antifungal agent recommended for treatment of invasive aspergillosis or mucormycosis. The objective of this study was to evaluate ISA levels in a real world setting in a mixed patient cohort including patients with non ...

Inflammatory Cytokines as Early Predictors of Weaning Failure From Extracorporeal Life Support

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 50, Issue 2, Page 259-270, February 2026.
Levels of IL‐8 and IL‐6 and their dynamics are reliable early predictors of ECLS weaning failure. ABSTRACT Background Weaning from extracorporeal life support (ECLS) in patients with refractory shock still remains a complex decision. Despite considerable advances in ECLS management, reliable biomarkers to predict weaning success are still not available.

Sequential Use of Extracorporeal Blood Purification for Refractory Septic Shock Followed by Rhabdomyolysis: A (First) Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Critical Care, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Septic shock is associated with high mortality worldwide despite adequate treatment. Various blood purification techniques have been available on the market for several years, aiming to remove circulating inflammatory mediators and to attenuate life‐threatening cytokine storms.

Broad adsorption of sepsis-related PAMP and DAMP molecules, mycotoxins, and cytokines from whole blood using CytoSorb® sorbent porous polymer beads. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Sepsis is defined as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. In sepsis and septic shock, pathogen-associated molecular pattern molecules (PAMPS), such as bacterial exotoxins, cause direct cellular damage ...
