HTLV‐1 Tax Reshapes the DNA‐Binding Pattern of Transcription Factor IRF4 and Disrupts Host Gene Regulation

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Proteomic mapping of Tax complexes in HTLV‐1–infected T‐cells identified IRF4 as a Tax interactor. Chromatin profiling showed Tax reprograms IRF4 occupancy with H3K27ac gains at super‐enhancers; Tax–IRF4 co‐expression altered chromatin accessibility and transcription, and ATL‐associated IRF4 mutants partially phenocopied these changes. ABSTRACT Human T‐

Alveolar Macrophages Isolated Directly From Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV)-Seropositive Individuals Are Sites of HCMV Reactivation In Vivo. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) causes significant morbidity in the immunocompromised host. Following primary infection, the virus establishes latent infection in progenitor cells of the myeloid lineage.

Validation of Digital Cytology for Primary Diagnosis Across a Range of Specimen Types

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
This single‐centre validation study demonstrated strong diagnostic concordance between high‐resolution whole‐slide imaging and traditional light microscopy across diverse cytology specimen types. Even with limited prior experience, pathologists found digital cytology feasible and acceptable for diagnostic use.

Cellularity of Routinely Prepared Cell Blocks: Insights From an International Study

open access: yesCytopathology, EarlyView.
This study revealed marked variability in the proportion of poorly cellular cell blocks among preparation methods and laboratories, highlighting the need for improved processing and regular monitoring of cell block adequacy. ABSTRACT Objective Formalin‐fixed, paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) cell blocks (CBs) are widely used for processing cytology specimens ...

Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor alpha (PPAR alpha) down-regulation in cystic fibrosis lymphocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Background: PPARs exhibit anti-inflammatory capacities and are potential modulators of the inflammatory response. We hypothesized that their expression and/or function may be altered in cystic fibrosis (CF), a disorder characterized by an excessive host ...

Successful in vitro propagation of feline coronavirus from clinically diagnosed feline infectious peritonitis cases using Vero cells: A potential model for future research

open access: yesVeterinary Record Open, Volume 13, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract Background Feline coronavirus (FCoV) causes inapparent to progressive fatal feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) in domestic and wild cats, which affects multiple‐organ systems. Methods We investigated three clinically sick cats using different laboratory and molecular tests to diagnose and confirm FCoV and propagate the virus in Vero cell ...

Exosome-delivered microRNAs promote IFN-α secretion by human plasmacytoid DCs via TLR7 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The excessive production of type I IFNs is a hallmark and a main pathogenic mechanism of many autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Following damage, the majority of bone marrow-derived airway cells express an epithelial marker

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2006
Background Adult-derived bone marrow stem cells are capable of reconstituting the haematopoietic system. However there is ongoing debate in the literature as to whether bone marrow derived cells have the ability to populate other tissues and express ...

High accuracy in detecting HER2‐low status in FNA of primary and metastatic breast cancer

open access: yesCancer Cytopathology, Volume 134, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background HER2‐positive invasive breast carcinomas (IBCs) account for 15% of breast cancers and are driven by ERBB2 gene amplification. Although historically associated with aggressive behavior, HER2‐targeted therapies have significantly improved outcomes.
