Systemic and skin-limited delayed-type drug hypersensitivity reactions associate with distinct resident and recruited T cell subsets

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Investigation
Delayed-type drug hypersensitivity reactions are major causes of morbidity and mortality. The origin, phenotype, and function of pathogenic T cells across the spectrum of severity require investigation. We leveraged recent technical advancements to study

Lactoferrin treatment activates acetylcholinesterase, decreasing acetylcholine levels in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell culture supernatants, inhibiting cell survival

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Representation of the suggested mode of action of lactoferrin (Lf) in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) A549 cells. Lf induces activation of caspase‐3 by activating p53 and AChE leading to decreased ACh concentrations. In turn, ACh signaling leads to activation of VEGF and AKT and blocking of caspase‐3.

Tumor epitope spreading by a novel multivalent therapeutic cellular vaccine targeting cancer antigens to invariant NKT-triggered dendritic cells in situ

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionCancer is categorized into two types based on the microenvironment: cold and hot tumors. The former is challenging to stimulate through immunity.

Carbohydrate moieties of major histocompatibility complex class I alloantigens are not required for their recognition by T lymphocytes. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The ability to generate specific cytotoxic responses using purified major histocompatibility complex (MHC) antigen in liposomes has made it possible to directly assess the importance of class I carbohydrate moieties in T cell recognition of alloantigen ...

Indoleamine 2,3‐dioxygenase 1 inhibition reverses cancer‐associated fibroblast‐mediated immunosuppression in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CAF‐mediated immunosuppression in ovarian cancer is driven by IDO1, reducing T‐cell function. Inhibiting IDO1 restores T‐cell proliferation and cytotoxicity, increases cancer cell apoptosis, and may help overcome CAF‐induced immune suppression in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer. Targeting IDO1 may improve antitumor immunity.

HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

Induction of IL 2 receptor expression and cytotoxicity of thymocytes by stimulation with TCF1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
We investigated the role of T cell cytotoxicity inducing factor 1 (TCF1) in the induction of a cytotoxic T cell response. We found that help-deficient thymocyte cultures supplied with saturating amounts of purified IL 2 did not develop CTL in a 5-day ...
