Natural linewidth analysis of d-band photoemission from Ag(110) [PDF]
We report a high-resolution angle-resolved study of photoemission linewidths observed for Ag(110). A careful data analysis yields k$-resolved upper limits for the inverse inelastic lifetimes of $d$-holes at the X-point of the bulk band structure.

A Raman spectroscopic investigation of graphite oxide derived graphene
Graphene sheets that are now routinely obtained by the exfoliation/reduction of graphite oxide exhibit Raman spectra unlike traditional graphene systems.

Raman spectroscopy investigations of chemically derived zigzag edge graphene nanoribbons
We fabricated graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) chemically derived from expandable graphite. All GNRs exhibit atomically smooth edges that extended over their entire length. We investigated four of the fabricated GNRs using Raman spectroscopy.

The Origin of Raman D Band: Bonding and Antibonding Orbitals in Graphene
In Raman spectroscopy of graphite and graphene, the D band at ∼ 1355 cm−1 is used as the indication of the dirtiness of a sample. However, our analysis suggests that the physics behind the D band is closely related to a very clear idea for describing a ...

Coupling tunable D-band directional coupler for millimeter-wave applications
A coupling tunable D-band directional coupler is designed based on a novel coupling grid structure proposed in this letter. The designed directional coupler has excellent performance with ultra-wideband.

Low-noise D-band IMPATT oscillators
The single-sideband FM noise characteristics of IMPATT diode oscillators for D-band frequencies have been measured by means of a direct-detection system with a high-Q quasi-optical resonator. For an n-type silicon single-drift IMPATT diode a ?frms of 11 Hz/?Hz and a noise measure of 37 dB at 137.5 GHz and 26 mW output power was determined.

D-Band Medium Power Traveling Wave Tube
D-band (141 - 175.8 GHz) is very attractive for high capacity wireless links. However, the low power available from solid state amplifiers is not sufficient to ensure long links with 99.99% availability in the most common rain zones. Traveling wave tubes have been extensively demonstrated as the solution for satisfying the link budget.

Relativity and Magnetism in Ni-Pd and Ni-Pt Alloys
We show that the differences in the magnetic properties of Ni-Pd and Ni-Pt alloys arise mainly due to relativity. In particular, we find that the local magnetic moment of Ni increases with the addition of Pd in Ni-Pd while it decreases with the addition ...
