Liver injury induced by 2-deoxy-d-galactose
Experimental and Molecular Pathology, 1973Abstract Injections of 2-deoxy- d -galactose induce acute liver injury in guinea pigs. Ultrastructural changes is hepatocytes include a hypertrophy of the smooth and a reduction of the rough endoplasmic reticulum, fatty infiltration, and nucleolar fragmentation. Kupffer cells are enlarged and increased in number.

Synthesis of seleno-carbohydrates derived from d-galactose
Carbohydrate Research, 2010The synthesis of seleno-galactopyranosides in a short and efficient manner is described, starting from the parent carbohydrate d-galactose. The approach described allows the synthesis of small libraries of compounds with a number of structural variations at the group attached to selenium.

[Anticaries effectiveness of D(+)-galactose].
Zeitschrift fur Stomatologie (1984), 1990The influence of different galactose concentrations on the cariogenic effect of Streptococcus mutans (strains: DSM 20381 and DSM 20523) in a sucrose diet (33%) was examined in an animal experiment. The treated Wistar rats were free of pathogenic germs at the beginning of the experiment.

Torularhodin is a natural product, extracted from Sporidiobolus pararoseus, and has the similar chemical structure to beta-carotene. The antioxidative effects of torularhodin were investigated using DPPH, ABTS, and a cell oxidative damage model in vitro,

Abstract D -Galactose 6-phosphate as synthesized by direct phosphorylation of D -galactose with polyphosphoric acid is contaminated with two of its positional isomers. These were separated from D -galactose 6-phosphate and from each other, and identified as D -galactose 3- and 5-phosphate by enzymic, chromatographic, and mass-spectral analysis ...
