Enzymatic synthesis of d-glucosaminic acid from d-glucosamine

Carbohydrate Research, 2005
D-glucosaminic acid (2-amino-2-deoxy-D-gluconic acid), a component of bacterial lipopolysaccharides and a chiral synthon, is easily prepared on a multigram scale by air oxidation of D-glucosamine (2-amino-2-deoxy-D-glucose) catalysed by glucose oxidase.

Efficient production of d-glucosamine by diacetylchitobiose deacetylase catalyzed deacetylation of N-acetyl-d-glucosamine

Biotechnology Letters, 2022
D-Glucosamine (GlcN) is an important amino sugar with various applications in medicine, food & beverages, nutritional supplements, and dairy products. This study aimed to produce GlcN from N-acetyl-D-glucosamine (GlcNAc) with an efficient deacetylase, and apply different strategies to enhance GlcN production. We screened a series of deacetylases that ...

Enzymatic Microdetermination of D-Glucosaminate with D-Glucosaminate Dehydratase

Analytical Letters, 1982
Abstract A simple spectrophotometric method for the dectermination of D-glucosaminate with bacterial D-glaucosaminate dehydratase (EC 4.2.1.26) has been developed. The method is based on the enzymatic dehydration of D-gluco-saminatie and the spectrophotomeric determination of the product, 2-keto-3-deoxy-D-gluconate, as its semicarbazone.

SYNAPTOSOMAL PHOSPHORYLATION OF D‐GLUCOSAMINE

Journal of Neurochemistry, 1978
Abstract— Synaptosomal fractions from rat brains can phosphorylate d‐glucosamine once it is transported across the synaptosomal membrane. Intrasynaptosomal phosphorylation of d‐glucosamine was rapid; up to 80% of the d‐glucosamine was recovered as the phosphorylated amino sugar during 15 min of incubation with the substrate.

A synthesis of phytosphingosine from D-glucosamine

Tetrahedron Letters, 1965
D-ribo-2-Benzamido-1,3,4-trihydroxyoctadecane (N-benzoyl-C18-phytosphingosine) and D-ribo-2-benzamido-1,3,4-trihydroxyeicosane (N-benzoyl-C20-phytosphingosine) have been synthesised by Wittig reactions between the aldehyde (IX) derived from 2-amino-2-deoxy-D-glucose and the appropriate long-chain phosphoranes.

In vivo antiviral activity of D-glucosamine

Archives of Virology, 1976
Intraperitoneal treatments with D-glucosamine, an inhibitor of the glycosylation of the viral envelope, decreased the growth rate of tumors induced in quails or in chicks by Rous sarcoma virus and increased the survival of mice inoculated with human influenza virus.

d-glucosamine uptake by rat brain synaptosomes

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1977
Abstract Uptake of d -glucosamine by rat brain synaptosomes occurs via a saturable transport process ( K m 2.1 mM , V 3.0 nmol/mg per min) which was clearly distinguishable from simple diffusion. This transport process is highly sensitive to cytochalasin ( K i = 7 · 10 −5 mM.

Hydrolysis of α-d-glucosamine-1-phosphate

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1965
Abstract The hydrolysis of α- d -glucosamine-1-phosphate at 100 °C from pH 3 to 6 demonstrates a pH behavior and stability similar to that observed for α- d -glucose-1-phosphate. The observed rate is due to the hydrolysis of the neutral species, IIa ( k = 4 × 10 −5 sec −1 ) and one of the negatively charged zwitterions, IIIb ( k = 3.4 × 10 −5

D-Glucosamine and N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine: Their Potential Use as Regenerative Medicine

2015
Glucosamine (GlcN), an amino sugar, is a compound derived from substitution of a hydroxyl group of a glucose molecule with an amino group. GlcN and its acetylated derivative, N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc), have been widely used in food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries and are currently produced by acid hydrolysis of chitin (a linear polymer of ...
