Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Design of a new prebiotic beef snack formulation by D-optimal mixture design
This study optimized a prebiotic beef snack formulation using inulin, wheat flour, and corn flour at a 12 % ratio via the D-optimal mixture design. Samples were analyzed for physicochemical and sensory properties.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

On the number of D-optimal designs
The main result of the paper is the theorem: For \(n=18\), there are precisely three essentially different matrices with elements \(\pm 1\) having the maximum determinant. Only one of these is of the circulant type, but all are of the skew type. This means that there are three \(D\)-optimal designs for \(n=18\).

Optimal designs for free knot least squares splines [PDF]
In this paper D-optimal designs for free knot least squares spline estimation are investigated. In contrast to most of the literature on optimal design for spline regression models it is assumed that the knots of the spline are also estimated from the ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Bayesian sequential D-D optimal model-robust designs. [PDF]
Alphabetic optimal design theory assumes that the model for which the optimal design is derived is usually known. However in real-life applications, this assumption may not be credible, as models are rarely known in advance.

Standardized maximim D-optimal designs for enzyme kineticinhibition models [PDF]
Locally optimal designs for nonlinear models require a single set of nominal values for the unknown parameters. An alternative is the maximin approach that allows the user to specify a range of values for each parameter ofinterest.
