Algorithms for the minimum spanning tree problem with resource allocation

open access: yesOperations Research Perspectives, 2016
We formulate the minimum spanning tree problem with resource allocation (MSTRA) in two ways, as discrete and continuous optimization problems (d-MSTRA/c-MSTRA), prove these to be NP-hard, and present algorithms to solve these problems to optimality.

Optimization of SLS Process Parameters Using D-Optimality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Solid Freeform Fabrication (SFF) refers to a group of processes that manufacture parts of arbitrarily complex geometry without tooling. Currently, the operation of most SFF machines requires skilled operators with expertise in choosing process ...

Experimental Validation of Entropy-Driven Swarm Exploration under Sparsity Constraints with Sparse Bayesian Learning

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
Increasing the autonomy of multi-agent systems or swarms for exploration missions requires tools for efficient information gathering. This work studies this problem from theoretical and experimental perspectives and evaluates an exploration system for ...

New Results Regarding the Construction Method for D‑optimal Chemical Balance Weighing Designs

open access: yesActa Universitatis Lodziensis. Folia Oeconomica, 2020
We study an experiment in which we determine unknown measurements of p objects in n weighing operations according to the model of the chemical balance weighing design. We determine a design which is D‑optimal. For the construction of the D‑optimal design,

Bayesian D-Optimal Choice Designs for Mixtures [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series C: Applied Statistics, 2014
SummaryConsumer products and services can often be described as mixtures of ingredients. Examples are the mixture of ingredients in a cocktail and the mixture of different components of travel time (e.g. in-vehicle and out-of-vehicle travel time) in a transportation setting.

Sparse kernel density estimation technique based on zero-norm constraint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
A sparse kernel density estimator is derived based on the zero-norm constraint, in which the zero-norm of the kernel weights is incorporated to enhance model sparsity.

Designs for the simultaneous inference of concentration–response curves

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2023
Background An important problem in toxicology in the context of gene expression data is the simultaneous inference of a large number of concentration–response relationships.

Pazopanib Combined With Vincristine and Irinotecan in Relapsed Wilms Tumor: Encouraging Outcomes in a Heavily Pretreated Pediatric Cohort

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background While Wilms tumor (WT) typically has a favorable prognosis, relapsed cases—especially those with high‐risk histology—remain therapeutically challenging after intensive frontline therapy. The combination of vincristine and irinotecan has demonstrated activity in pediatric solid tumors, and pazopanib, a multi‐targeted tyrosine kinase ...

Plant Friendly Input Design for Parameter Estimation in an Inertial System with Respect to D-Efficiency Constraints

open access: yesEntropy, 2014
System identification, in practice, is carried out by perturbing processes or plants under operation. That is why in many industrial applications a plant-friendly input signal would be preferred for system identification.
