Toxicological Assessment of D‐Allulose From a Novel One‐Step Fermentation Process Using Genetically Modified Escherichia coli: A 90‐Day Dietary Toxicity Study in Rats

open access: yesJournal of Toxicology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
D‐Allulose is a rare monosaccharide structurally similar to D‐fructose, characterized by low caloric content and relatively high sweetness. This study aimed to conduct a 90‐day oral toxicity test to systemically evaluate the potential toxicological effects of D‐allulose produced via a novel one‐step fermentation process using genetically engineered ...

Crystal structure and substrate specificity of D-galactose-6-phosphate isomerase complexed with substrates. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
D-Galactose-6-phosphate isomerase from Lactobacillus rhamnosus (LacAB; EC 5.3.1.26), which is encoded by the tagatose-6-phosphate pathway gene cluster (lacABCD), catalyzes the isomerization of D-galactose-6-phosphate to D-tagatose-6-phosphate during ...

Update: Enzymatische Synthese für industrielle Anwendungen

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 27, July 1, 2025.

An Update: Enzymatic Synthesis for Industrial Applications

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 64, Issue 27, July 1, 2025.
Biocatalysis has become a sustainable and cost‐competitive alternative to established chemical synthesis, enabling the enzyme‐based production of not only commodity chemicals but (non‐natural) amino acids, (rare) sugars, as well as synthetic nucleotides.

Crystal structure of 6-deoxy-α-l-psicofuranose

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2015
The title compound, C6H12O5, was crystallized from an aqueous solution of 6-deoxy-l-psicose (6-deoxy-l-allulose, (3S,4S,5S)-1,3,4,5-tetrahydroxyhexan-2-one), and the molecule was confirmed as α-furanose with a 3T4 (or E4) conformation, which is a ...

Reconstitution of Methionine Cycle With ATP Regeneration for Whole‐Cell Catalysis of Creatine Production in Engineered Escherichia coli

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 5, May 2025.
In this study, we constructed a CR biosynthesis pathway in E. coli by introducing exogenous AGAT and GAMT. We integrated the reconstitution methionine cycle with a polyphosphate kinase‐based ATP regeneration system, achieving a CR titre of 5.27 g/L with a productivity of 0.22 g/L/h.
