Gravitizing the Quantum [PDF]

open access: yesint. J. Mod. Phys. D31 (2022) 2242024 (9 pages), 2022
We discuss a new approach to the problem of quantum gravity in which the quantum mechanical structures that are traditionally fixed, such as the Fubini-Study metric in the Hilbert space of states, become dynamical and so implement the idea of gravitizing the quantum.

P(VDF-TrFE)/BaTiO3 nanoparticle composite films mediate piezoelectric stimulation and promote differentiation of SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, 5(14): 1808-1820 (2016), 2022
Poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene, P(VDF-TrFE)) and P(VDF-TrFE)/barium titanate nanoparticle (BTNP) films are prepared and tested as substrates for neuronal stimulation through direct piezoelectric effect. Films are characterized in terms of surface, mechanical, and piezoelectric features before in vitro testing on SH-SY5Y cells. In particular,

Are Fairness Perceptions Shaped by Income Inequality? Evidence from Latin America [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Economic Inequality, October, 2022, 2022
A common assumption in the literature is that the level of income inequality shapes individuals' beliefs about whether the income distribution is fair (``fairness views,'' for short). However, individuals do not directly observe income inequality (which often leads to large misperceptions), nor do they consider all inequities to be unfair.

Large and temperature-independent piezoelectric response in Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-BaTiO3-PbTiO3 [PDF]

open access: yesAppl. Phys. Lett. 101, 192901 (2012), 2013
The temperature dependence of elastic, dielectric, and piezoelectric properties of (65-x)Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-xBaTiO335-PbTiO3 ceramics with x=0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 was investigated. Compound with x=2 was found to exhibit a large piezoelectric response (d31=-170 pC/N, d33=530 pC/N at 300 K).

Revisiting the Quantum Group Symmetry of Diatomic Molecules [PDF]

open access: yesEur. Phys. J. D31 (2004) 27-37, 2003
We propose a q-deformed model of the anharmonic vibrations in diatomic molecules. We analyse the applicability of the model to the phenomenological Dunham's expansion by comparing with experimental data. Our methodology involves a global consistency analysis of the parameters that determine the q-deformed system, when compared with fitted vibrational ...

Piezoelectric polyvinylidene fluoride-based epoxy composites produced by combined uniaxial compression and poling [PDF]

open access: yesAppl. Phys. Lett. 115, 192902 (2019), 2019
We present a simple, efficient method, which combines uniaxial compression and subsequent poling, to produce piezoelectric polyvinylidene fluoride-based epoxy composites. The values of the piezoelectric factors obtained are slightly higher than those of neat piezoelectric polyvinylidene fluoride.

On the Hadronic Contribution to Light-by-light Scattering in $g_μ-2$ [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. D49 (1994) 1668-1671, 1993
We comment on the theoretical uncertainties involved in estimating the hadronic effects on the light-by-light scattering contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, especially based on the analysis and results of T. Kinoshita, B. Ni\v zi\'c, and Y. Okamoto, Phys.\ Rev.\ D31, 2108 (1985).

Application of machine vision to the measurement of the effective d31 coefficient in laser interferometry

open access: yesActa Physica Sinica, 2013
A novel method based on machine vision is proposed for measuring the effective d31 coefficient. Based on the best estimation of gray scale of interference pattern, the sensitivity of the twin-beam interferometry is significantly improved in comparison with previously reported system. Firstly, the interference pattern grabbed by machine vision system is

Enhancement in electromechanical properties of piezoelectric thin film through strain-induced domain alignment [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This paper reports the impact of process-dependent structural deformation and lattice strain by doping, resulting in domain re-orientation along the a-axis. For this investigation, the smaller La3+ cation is introduced at A-site and the longitudinal and transverse piezocoefficient properties have been studied in Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 (PZT) film.
