Daily maximum temperature forecasting in changing climate using a hybrid of Multi-dimensional Complementary Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition and Radial Basis Function Neural Network

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies, 2021
Study region: Metropolitan Taipei city, Taiwan. Study focus: The severity of climate change in Taiwan is increasing, and the average temperature in Taiwan has increased by 1.0–1.4 °C over the last century, which is higher than the global average. A state-

Cold Bias of ERA5 Summertime Daily Maximum Land Surface Temperature over Iberian Peninsula

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Land surface temperature (LST) is a key variable in surface-atmosphere energy and water exchanges. The main goals of this study are to (i) evaluate the LST of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) ERA-Interim and ERA5 reanalyses ...

Relationships between daily solar irradiance and maximum temperature in Iraq

open access: yesJournal of Agrometeorology
This study investigates the relation between daily solar irradiance (SI) and maximum air temperature (Tmax) over six cities in Iraq (Basra, Shanafiya, Baghdad, Rutba, Kirkuk, and Shakhan) using NASA POWER data for the period 2014-2023.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Impact du changement climatique sur les températures journalières minimales et maximales et les précipitations de la région de Tanger (nord-ouest du Maroc) quantifié à partir d’une méthode de descente d’échelle statistique

open access: yesVertigO, 2014
A statistical downscaling model (ASD) was evaluated by simultaneously downscaling maximum temperature, minimum temperature, and precipitation in Tangier's region (North-Western Morocco).

Technical Note: Bias correcting climate model simulated daily temperature extremes with quantile mapping [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2012
When applying a quantile mapping-based bias correction to daily temperature extremes simulated by a global climate model (GCM), the transformed values of maximum and minimum temperatures are changed, and the diurnal temperature range (DTR) can become ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Correlation Between Local Air Temperature and the COVID-19 Pandemic in Hubei, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2021
Objective: To clarify the correlation between temperature and the COVID-19 pandemic in Hubei. Methods: We collected daily newly confirmed COVID-19 cases and daily temperature for six cities in Hubei Province, assessed their correlations, and established ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

PARK(ing) time–How park deficiency affects the biological clock in a Drosophila model of Parkinson's disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells
