Although Turkey is now the only country to which it is indigenous, fallow deer have been introduced into large parts of Europe. Fallow deer that either escaped or were released have formed populations across the Nteherlands. Their core distribution areas are the coastal dunes and the Veluwe.

Fascioliasi epatica nel daino (Dama dama)

Ventitre (43%) su 53 daini (Dama dama) adulti, abbattuti nel Parco Naturale di Migliarino, San Rossore e Massaciuccoli (Pisa), sono risultati infestati da Fasciola hepatica . Erano presenti lesioni a carico dei dotti biliari di medio calibro, con una caratteristica distribuzione alla periferia del viscere.
