A numerical investigation on the damage identification of timber utility poles based on wavelet packet energy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Timber utility poles are traditionally used for electricity and telecommunication distribution. Due to the old age of many distribution networks, the health condition of these timber poles needs to be assessed. Non-destructive testing (NDT) methods based

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Structural damage identification using mathematical optimization techniques [PDF]

open access: yes
An identification procedure is proposed to identify damage characteristics (location and size of the damage) from dynamic measurements. This procedure was based on minimization of the mean-square measure of difference between measurement data (natural ...

Damage identification from power spectrum density transmissibility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Damage identification under real operating conditions of the structure during its daily use would be suitable and attractive to civil engineers due to the difficulty and problems of carrying out controlled forced excitation tests on this kind of ...

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Identification of Pipe Damage by Line-Structured Light and Regional Resonance Pairs

open access: yesSensors
Baseline-free methods in structural health monitoring (SHM) are crucial as they allow for real-time damage detection and assessment, eliminating the dependency on initial condition data.

Extension and validation of a method for locating damaged members in large space trusses [PDF]

open access: yes
The damage location approach employs the control system capabilities for the structure to test the structure and measure the dynamic response. The measurements are then used in a system identification algorithm to produce a model of the damaged structure.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.
