Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Mechanical damage evolution mechanism of coal injected with supercritical CO2 using Nanoindentation and XRD-EPMA technology

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
CO2 geological storage technology is one of the effective technologies for achieving carbon reduction and the reuse of abandoned mine resources. In order to reveal the interaction mechanism between supercritical CO2 and coal during injection and its ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Mechanical response characteristics and damage mechanism of water-containing mudstone under low strain rate dynamic loading

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
Accelerated instability and failure of surrounding water-rich mudstone in roadway under dynamic loading has become a prominent problem in deep coal resource mining, and it is of great significance to study the damage mechanism of water-containing ...

EPR studies on the interaction between additives and polyethylene matrix initiated by gamma radiation

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2020
Silane cross-linked polyethylene (PE) modified with two antioxidants (Irganox 1076 and Irganox PS802) and aluminum hydroxide (ATH) as a flame retardant, was irradiated with gamma rays at 77 K.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Study on the Microscopic Pore Characteristics and Mechanisms of Disturbance Damage in Zhanjiang Formation Structural Clay

open access: yesApplied Sciences
To investigate the microscopic pore evolution characteristics of Zhanjiang Formation structural clay during the disturbance process, unconfined compressive strength tests, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were conducted on ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.
