Phenomenological modeling of strain hardening, phase transformation and damage effects of trip-steels [PDF]
In this study, the constitutive modeling of loading state dependent strain hardening and martensite evolution of high alloyed TRIP-steels are addressed, which are experimentally observed comparing uni-axial tension and compression test results ...

Continuous Damage Fiber Bundle Model for Strongly Disordered Materials
We present an extension of the continuous damage fiber bundle model to describe the gradual degradation of highly heterogeneous materials under an increasing external load.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Experimental Study on Creep Characteristics and Damage Model of Carbonaceous Slate After Freeze-Thaw
Taking the carbonaceous slate of Zhuokeji tunnel on the Wenchuan-Ma, erkang expressway as the research subject, triaxial compression creep tests were conducted under various freeze-thaw cycles to analyze the creep strain characteristics and long-term ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Damage spreading in the mode-coupling equations for glasses
We examine the problem of damage spreading in the off-equilibrium mode coupling equations. The study is done for the spherical $p$-spin model introduced by Crisanti, Horner and Sommers.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
