Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Studying energy absorption in tapered thick walled tubes
In many engineering structures different energy absorption systems may be used to improve crashworthiness capability of the system and to control damages that may occur in a system during an accident.

The impact of a lightning strike causes a short high electrical current burst through Carbon Fibre Composites (CFC). Due to the electrical properties of CFC the large current leads to a rapid heating of the surrounding impact area which degrades and ...

Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Modified Non-Local Damage Model: Resolving Spurious Damage Evolution
Accurate prediction of damage and fracture evolution is critical for the safety design and preventive maintenance of engineering structures, however existing computational methods face significant limitations. On one hand, discrete damage and phase-field models are often computationally prohibitive for real world applications and they are less ...

ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Proteostasis collapse is a driver of cell aging and death. [PDF]
What molecular processes drive cell aging and death? Here, we model how proteostasis-i.e., the folding, chaperoning, and maintenance of protein function-collapses with age from slowed translation and cumulative oxidative damage.
