Novel adaptation of the demodulation technology for gear damage detection to variable amplitudes of mesh harmonics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, a novel adaptive demodulation technique including a new diagnostic feature is proposed for gear diagnosis in conditions of variable amplitudes of the mesh harmonics.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Strain localization and damage prediction during sheet metal forming

open access: yes, 2008
This work aims to study the strain localization in different sheet metal forming processesby the finite element method using advanced behaviour models. In order to improve the prediction of the formability limit of sheets under forming it is important to

Cyclic constitutive equations of rock with coupled damage induced by compaction and cracking

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining Science and Technology, 2022
In this paper, the cyclic constitutive equations were proposed to describe the constitutive behavior of cyclic loading and unloading. Firstly, a coupled damage variable was derived, which contains two parts, i.e., the compaction-induced damage and the ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Damage Evolution Modelling for Rock Materials Based on the Principle of Least Energy Dissipation Rate within Irreversible Thermodynamics

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
The nonlinear mechanical behavior of rock significantly influences the design and construction of underground structures. Due to the complexity and diversity of the damage mechanisms of rock, the damage variable directly defined by partial-damage ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Mechanism Study on the Intrinsic Damage and Microchemical Interactions of Argillaceous Siltstone Under Different Water Temperatures

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Argillaceous siltstone is prone to deformation and softening when exposed to water, which poses a great threat to practical engineering. There are significant differences in the degrees of damage to this type of rock caused by solutions with different ...

Creep Damage Evolution of Marble From Acoustic Emission and the Damage Threshold

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2020
For the underground engineering, time-dependent behavior (i.e., creep) of rocks is one of the main reasons for instability of surrounding rock in great stress conditions.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
