Non-parametric linear time-invariant system identification by discrete wavelet transforms

open access: yes, 2006
We describe the use of the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for non-parametric linear time-invariant system identification. Identification is achieved by using a test excitation to the system under test (SUT) that also acts as the analyzing function for ...

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Tension Estimation Method for Cable With Damper Using Natural Frequencies With Uncertain Modal Order

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2022
In the maintenance of cable structures, such as cable-stayed bridges, it is necessary to estimate the tension acting on the cables. In current Japanese practice, the cable tension is estimated from the cable’s natural frequency using vibration-based ...

Analytical study of the frequency response function of a nonlinear spring damper system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A spring damper system with a nonlinear damping element is investigated using the Volterra series method to study the system frequency response function (FRF) characteristics.

Modulating Two‐Photon Absorption in a Pyrene‐Based MOF Series: An In‐Depth Investigation of Structure–Property Relationships

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates H4TBAPy‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) ‐ NU‐1000, NU‐901, SrTBAPy, and BaTBAPy ‐ for multiphoton absorption (MPA) performance. It observes topology‐dependent variations in the 2PA cross‐section, with BaTBAPy exhibiting the highest activity.

Y25 freight car bogie models properties analysis by means of computer simulations

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The article deals with the results of the simulation analysis of a railway wagon bogie model. We analysed four freight wagon bogie variants for its dynamics properties research. The bogie models correspond in general to the Y25 bogie concept.

Enhancing the seismic performance of platforms in intermediate water depth using shape ‎memory alloy dampers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hydraulic Structures
Wharves supported by vertical piles are very common marine structures with suitable seismic responses. Nevertheless, they severely suffer from extensive lateral displacement in both design and service earthquake level state.

The effect of a single HOM-damper cell within a channel of undamped cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The effect of a single HOM-damper cell within a channel of undamped cells is described theoretically using an equivalent circuit model. From this a simple equation can be derived which relates the Q-value of the single damping-cell, the bandwidth of the ...

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

Seismic performance analysis of Kuala Lumpur air traffic control tower by friction damper [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In structural earthquake engineering, different kinds of energy absorption devices were invented during last 30 years (Guan et al, 2004). And more than one-decade research has shown that, on account of the virtue of no power requirement, rapid response ...
