Implementation of Cement-based nano composite Energy Absorption Damper to improve the damping properties of concrete and monitoring applications [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2023
The energy from the moving seismic waves through a building structure is dispersed by means of dampers. Dampers work by converting the kinetic energy into heat energy, dissipating it into the hydraulic fluid.

Stiffening effects-controlling sizing procedure of ADAS dampers in seismic retrofit of frame structures

open access: yesFrontiers in Built Environment, 2023
Added Damping and Stiffness (ADAS) steel dissipators are among the most classical devices installed in dissipative bracing systems for the advanced seismic retrofit of frame buildings. An energy-based sizing procedure is formulated in this study for this

Experimental Study on the Mechanical Properties of Composite Damped Hinge Bearings

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
To resolve the problem of the super-long steel structures producing high-temperature stress on the lower concrete roof column section and improve the structure’s seismic performance, in this paper, we introduce a type of composite damped hinge bearing ...

A quantum damper

open access: yesPhysica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2019
As an application of the classically decayable correlation in a quantum chaos system maintained over an extremely long time-scale (Matsui et al, Europhys.Lett. 113(2016),40008), we propose a minimal model of quantum damper composed of a quantum harmonic oscillator (HO) weakly interacting with a bounded quantum chaos system.

A Survey of Practical Design Considerations of Optical Imaging Stabilization Systems for Small Unmanned Aerial Systems

open access: yesSensors, 2019
Optical imaging systems are one of the most common sensors used for collecting data with small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS). Plenty of research exists which present custom-made optical imaging systems for specific missions.

Ultrasonic Pulse-Echo Signal Analysis for Damage Evaluation of Metallic Slit-Plate Hysteretic Dampers

open access: yesMetals, 2017
This paper proposes a pulse-echo Ultrasonic Testing (UT) methodology to quantify the damage of hysteretic dampers subjected to cyclic loadings. Energy dissipation is known as an innovative strategy for the protection of buildings against earthquakes.

Earthquake Damage Index and Fragility Analysis of Steel Damper for Seismic Isolation Bridge

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
As an important component in seismic isolation bridges, steel dampers should have excellent low-cycle fatigue performance. This paper performs destructive tests of two types of steel dampers to accurately evaluate the fatigue damage of steel dampers ...

APPLICATION OF MR DAMPERS TO VARIABLE DAMPERS

open access: yesDoboku Gakkai Ronbunshu, 2004
