Minimum Quantity Lubrication Jet Noise: Passive Control [PDF]
Jet noise is a common problem in minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) technology. This should be given great attention because of its serious impacts on the physical and mental health of the operators.

Passive Control in a Continuous Beam under a Traveling Heavy Mass: Dynamic Response and Experimental Verification [PDF]
The motion of a heavy mass on a bridge span causes vibrations whose magnitude and frequency content depend on the mechanical properties of the structural system, including the magnitude of that mass and its speed of traverse. In order to limit vibrations

We revisit a unique building system including a base-isolation, building-connection hybrid control system. The base-isolation system withstands pulse-type earthquake ground motions effectively and the building-connection system resists long-duration ...

The idea of improving the energy output for small wind turbines without compromising the remaining aspects of the technology, such as costs and structural integrity, is very appealing in the context of the growing concern for global warming and the goal ...

Krasovskii and Shifted Passivity-Based Control [PDF]
In this paper, our objective is to develop novel passivity based control techniques by introducing a new passivity concept named Krasovskii passivity. As a preliminary step, we investigate properties of Krasovskii passive systems and establish relations among four relevant passivity concepts including Krasovskii passivity.

Controlled symmetries and passive walking [PDF]
In this note, we investigate the relationship between nonlinear control and passive walking in bipedal locomotion for the general case of an n degree-of-freedom biped in three dimensional space. We introduce the notion of controlled symmetry to capture the effect of the control input on the invariance of the system Lagrangian under group action.
