Research Progress on the Damping Mechanism of Magnesium Alloys
Magnesium alloys with high damping, high specific strength and low density have attracted great attention in recent years. However, the application of magnesium alloys is limited by the balance between their mechanical and damping properties. The strength and plasticity of magnesium alloys with high damping performance often cannot meet the industrial ...

Damping characteristics of TiNi shape memory alloys [PDF]
The damping characteristics of TiNi SMAs have been systematically studied by using techniques of resonant-bar and low-frequency inverted torsion pendulum. Experimental results show that both the martensite phase (M) and R phase (R) have high damping due to the movement of twin boundaries.

DAMPING CAPACITY AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF Zn-Al ALLOY CASTINGS
This paper describes damping capacity and mechanical properties of Zn-8~20%Al and Zn-8~20%Al-0.02~0.04%Mg alloy castings. Zn-8~20%Al alloy castings show high damping when quenched from 573K.

DAMPING CAPACITY OF Zn-Al ALLOY CASTINGS
This paper describes the damping capacity of Zn-15 ~ 27%Al and Zn-15 ~ 27%Al-0.02%Mg alloys casting. Such alloys are desirable to provide high damping of vibration. Cooling rates of solidification and quenching for the interior of castings are lower than

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...
