Damping Capacity of Turning Tools, Part 2: Mechanism Initiating the Damping Capacity
Journal of Engineering for Industry, 1993This paper examines the mechanism initiating the damping capacity of a turning tool. The turning tool is considered as a beam on an elastic foundation. Parameters of the model are estimated from the experimental result of the free damped vibration frequency.

Damping capacity of layered materials
Journal of Applied Physics, 1994Extensive measurements of the internal friction in a variety of layered materials such as graphite, metal dichalcogenides (MoS2, TiS2, NbSe2, TaS2, TaSe2, and TaTe2), and montmorillonite clays are reported. The internal friction of these layered materials exhibits features similar to those observed in graphite.
