The performance of beer packaging: Vibration damping and thermal insulation [PDF]

open access: yesFood Packaging and Shelf Life, 2017
Abstract Poor transport conditions can result in an accelerated decay in beer quality. Optimal beer packaging should minimize the impact of temperature changes and vibrations, which occur during (long-haul) transport. In this research, the performance of different beer packagings (BP) regarding vibration damping and thermal insulation was ...

Discrepancies Between Micro Versus Macroscale Viscoelastic Properties in a Microplastic‐Tissue Composite Model

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the discrepancies between bulk mechanics and spatial mapping in a tissue‐mimetic hydrogel model. Microplastic particles create localized stiff mechanical microenvironments that are detectable by cellular‐scale nanoindentation but leave bulk properties unchanged as measured by rheology.

Damping performance of Eucommia ulmoides gum

open access: yesChinese Journal of Polymer Science, 2010
Eucommia ulmoides gum (EU gum), known as gutta percha in Southeast Asia, is a natural polymer with double characteristics of rubber and plastic. In present paper, tanδ-T curve and hysteresis loss (HL) were chosen to characterize its damping property. The results indicated that its tanδ value would increase with rising of temperature when T > 0°C and ...

Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.
