The spatial damping of magnetohydrodynamic waves in a flowing partially ionised prominence plasma
Solar prominences are partially ionised plasmas displaying flows and oscillations. These oscillations show time and spatial damping and, commonly, have been explained in terms of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) waves. We study the spatial damping of linear non-

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

Recent seismic analyses indicate that the structural damping ratio should be considered frequency-independent, for safe and accurate estimations. In response, damping models like the Wilson–Penzien (WP) damping model, that is one of the modal damping ...

Study of the effect of specimen size and frequency on the structural damping property of beam
It is said that the parameters that characterize structural damping, i.e., the loss factor, are identical to the material of the specimen, but in actuality, the damping property is sometimes affected by specimen size or the frequency.

On the robustness of the average power ratios in damping estimation: application in the structural health monitoring of composites beams [PDF]
In composites structures, cracking, delamination will cause changes in the measured dynamic response of structure and so on experimentally modal parameters.

Evaluation Damping Performance for Hydrostatic Bearing Film by Damping Ratio Scaling
This paper investigates how to evaluate the damping ratio in practical measurement for hydrostatic bearing which possesses overdamped damping. The traditional methods such as decayed response, band width of resonant peak, transient response of step excitation and hysteresis circle cannot be utilized for get over overdamped behavior.
