Pharmacokinetics of dantrolene sodium in horses
Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1987The pharmacokinetics of dantrolene sodium were investigated in horses following both intravenous (2 mg/kg) and intragastric (4 mg/kg) administration. Two ponies also received dantrolene sodium intravenously (2 mg/kg) in a pilot study to obtain preliminary kinetic data and to determine urinary and biliary excretion of the intact drug.

The Inhibition of Acetylcholinesterase by Dantrolene and Ondansetron
Drug Research, 2014A virtual screening study has suggested that the skeletal muscle relaxant, dantrolene, and the antiemetic drug, ondansetron, may act as inhibitors of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Based on this proposal, the current study examines the AChE inhibitory properties of these drugs.Using AChE from human erythrocytes as enzyme source, it is shown ...

Dantrolene interacts with ryanodine receptors in skeletal and cardiac muscle affecting sarcoplasmic reticulum calcium release. Since dantrolene is lipophilic it could also affect intra‐sarcoplasmic reticulum calcium handling proteins such as ...

Pharmacokinetics of Intravenous Dantrolene in Children
Anesthesiology, 1989To determine the pharmacokinetics of iv dantrolene and its metabolites in children, ten children 2-7 yr of age scheduled for minor elective surgery, were studied. After induction of anesthesia and tracheal intubation, dantrolene (2.4 mg/kg) was administered iv over 10.2 +/- 0.83 min.

Dantrolene in Porcine Malignant Hyperthermia
Anesthesiology, 1976The effectiveness of intravenous administration of dantrolene in prevention and treatment of fulminant malignant hyperthermia (MH) initiated by halothene and succinylcholine (SCh) in genetically susceptible swine was assessed. In six animals, prior administration of dantrolene in doses of 5 mg/kg or more prevented MH, while 1 or 3 mg/kg attenuated MH ...

Dantrolene sodium, a hydantoin derivative, relaxes skeletal muscle by a peripheral rather than a central action by inhibiting release of calcium from the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR). Both resting and twitch tensions are decreased in the presence of dantrolene. The action of dantrolene on the SR may be indirect rather than direct.

Pleuropericardial Reaction to Treatment With Dantrolene
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1979Chronic pleural effusion occurred in three patients, one of whom also developed acute pericarditis. A fourth patient developed both pleural and pericardial effusions. All patients had been receiving dantrolene sodium for at least two months. The pleural fluid was a sterile exudate with pleural and peripheral blood eosinophilia in all patients.

In vitroantioxidant properties of dantrolene sodium
Pharmacological Research, 2001Dantrolene sodium is a skeletal muscle relaxant, which inhibits intracellular Ca2+ release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum. The aim of this study is to examine possible in vitro antioxidant effects of dantrolene sodium. For this reason, the in vitro antioxidant effects of dantrolene sodium were studied using thiocyanate methods.

Dantrolene sodium and hepatic injury
Neurology, 1990This is a report on hepatic adverse events associated with dantrolene therapy. All cases reported to the manufacturer are included, from all sources, through 1987. Of 122 cases containing sufficient data to analyze, 47 patients had asymptomatic transaminase elevations, 12 had additional mild (less than or equal to 2.5 mg/dl) hyperbilirubinemia, 36 had ...
