Impact of Urban Environmental Indices on Surface Temperature in Dhaka: A Policy‐Oriented Perspective

open access: yesClimate Resilience and Sustainability, Volume 5, Issue 1, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Dhaka's rapid urban expansion has intensified surface heating and degraded environmental quality. This study analyzes environmental indices from 2015 to 2025, revealing a strong positive relationship between built‐up growth and land surface temperature, and negative associations with vegetation and water presence.

Growing Australian Rice in Non‐Flooded Soil Increases Water Use Efficiency and Mycorrhizal Colonisation, but Reduces Grain Micronutrient Concentrations

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Climate change is driving a global shift from flooded (anaerobic) to dryland/rainfed (aerobic) rice production. While aerobic systems reduce water use and methane emissions, they can exacerbate soil zinc (Zn) and iron (Fe) deficiencies due to altered redox conditions.

Dedicated First‐Trimester Anomaly Scan in a National Prenatal Screening Program and Timing of Diagnosis: The Prospective IMITAS Cohort Study

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Volume 133, Issue 7, Page 1373-1380, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To determine the diagnostic yield of a nationally implemented first‐trimester anomaly scan (FTAS), compared to standard obstetric care with a second‐trimester anomaly scan. Design Prospective observational cohort study. Setting Nationwide prenatal screening program in the Netherlands.

Genetic Determinants of Peanut‐Specific IgG4 Levels in the Context of Sustained Oral Peanut Exposure in the LEAP Study

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 178, Issue 2, Page 280-292, June 2026.
A cumulative genetic score based on IgG4‐associated variants explains a substantial proportion of variance in psIgG4 levels during sustained peanut consumption, highlighting strong gene‐by‐environment interactions. Our findings suggest that early, sustained peanut consumption, in combination with genetic factors, promotes a protective immune response ...

Activation of the Lectin Pathway Drives Persistent Complement Dysregulation in Long COVID

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 178, Issue 2, Page 261-268, June 2026.
The complement cascade, a series of blood proteins that assists in the recognition and neutralisation of pathogens, either independently or in conjunction with antibodies, is persistently activated in patients with long COVID. We found that blood plasma samples from patients with long COVID contained elevated concentrations of the mannan‐binding lectin‐

Phosphate starvation induces root cell‐type‐specific transcriptional responses and alternative splicing

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 5, Page 3212-3229, June 2026.
Summary Phosphate (Pi) is an essential nutrient for plant growth, and understanding how Arabidopsis thaliana root cells respond to Pi deficiency is crucial to decipher whole plant responses. We perform high‐resolution transcriptomic profiling across five distinct root cell types, identifying differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and differential ...

Random Mutagenesis in Porphyromonas gingivalis Enables Isolation of Mutants With Enhanced Secreted Protease Activity

open access: yesMolecular Oral Microbiology, Volume 41, Issue 3, Page 158-164, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Porphyromonas gingivalis is a key pathogen in periodontitis, with secreted proteases as major virulence factors. We developed a screening method to generate and identify P. gingivalis mutants with elevated protease activity. Mutations were induced using the mutagens 2,6‐diaminopurine (2,6‐DAP) or ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS), and the ...
