Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

THE SHORT-TERM COLD STORAGE EFFECT ON VASE LIFE OF CUT Hosta LEAVES

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2007
The longevity of cut leaves in flower arrangements is an important commercial consideration in horticultural practices. Here we report on the effect of short-term cold storage, in combination with a cytokinin treatment, on the post harvest longevity of ...

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

THE EFFECT OF GROWTH REGULATORS AND CULTURE CONDITIONS ON THE CALLUS INDUCTION IN TOMATO Lycopersicon Sp.

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2006
Effect of auxins: (NAA, IAA), cytokinin BAP and culture conditions (light, darkness) on callus induction in cotyledons of tomato cultivar ‘Maskotka’ and the wild form of Lycopersicon peruvianum was investigated.

Methods for Assessment and Monitoring of Light Pollution around Ecologically Sensitive Sites

open access: yesJournal of Imaging, 2019
Since the introduction of electric lighting over a century ago, and particularly in the decades following the Second World War, indications of artificial light on the nighttime Earth as seen from Earth orbit have increased at a rate exceeding that of ...

Spatial representations of place cells in darkness are supported by path integration and border information

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2014
Effective spatial navigation is enabled by reliable reference cues that derive from sensory information from the external environment, as well as from internal sources such as the vestibular system.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Temperature and light requirements for germination of species of Velloziaceae from different Brazilian rocky outcrops

open access: yesActa Botânica Brasílica, 2018
Germination is the first step to successful plant establishment. The range of factors that promote germination varies among species. Light and temperature requirements for the germination of species of Velloziaceae were investigated.
