An Efficient CO2‐Upcycling Platform Based on Engineered Halomonas TD with Enhanced Acetate‐Utilizing Capacity via Adaptive Laboratory Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An electrochemical system is designed to convert CO2 into CO2‐derived electrolytes (CDE), mainly containing acetate and formate. The underlying mechanism of acetate metabolism in Halomonas TD80 is explored via ALE. Engineered TD80 produced high‐yield diversified products from CDE.

Balanced data assimilation for highly-oscillatory mechanical systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Data assimilation algorithms are used to estimate the states of a dynamical system using partial and noisy observations. The ensemble Kalman filter has become a popular data assimilation scheme due to its simplicity and robustness for a wide range of ...

Synergistic Passivation of Bulk and Heterojunction Defects via Dual‐Functioned Interlayer Treatment for High‐Efficiency Sb2(S,Se)3 Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a dual‐function KI treatment that simultaneously enhances Sb2(S,Se)3 absorber quality and CdS heterojunction properties. Iodide diffusion passivates bulk defects while improving crystallization and modifies the ETL's band alignment. The resulting spike‐like interface suppresses recombination, achieving a 10.06% PCE.

Bio‐Based Piezoelectrets from Polylactic Acid and Natural Waxes: A Sustainable Approach for Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
A novel polylactic acid/wax electret composite is developed, combining biodegradability with long‐term charge stability. The study investigates charge storage behavior, structural morphology, and thermal performance. Results reveal a notable charge retention recovery after thermal stress and exhibit stable surface potential over 2 kV. This eco‐friendly

Assimilating the Martian water cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Water ice clouds have been shown to alter the thermal structure of the Martian atmosphere. Here we discuss the assimilation of total column water vapour and dust optical depth data from the Thermal Emission Spectrometer (TES) into the UK/LMD MGCM, and ...

Sustainable Bioethanol Production from Soft Tissue Waste: Combining Hybrid Hydrolysis, Yeast Fermentation, and Membrane‐Based Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
This study offers a sustainable approach for converting soft tissue waste into bioethanol, promoting the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Employing hybrid hydrolysis and the yeast Hanseniaspora uvarum, a glucose yield of 10.86 g L−1 is attained, with optimal bioethanol production reaching 7.55 g L−1, highlighting the potential of soft ...

ASSIMILATION OF MARTIAN OZONE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Observations of atmospheric ozone on Mars can be used to develop the representation of trace gas transport, sources and sinks within global circulation models and constrain middle atmosphere wind speeds which are not observed directly.
