Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Quality-of-Data Broker for Quality-of-Data-Aware Telemedicine Systems

open access: yesIRBM, 2016
Purpose: Telemedicine systems must provide clinical data of sufficient quality (according to medical standards) to support safe treatment guidance of outpatients. Quality of clinical data (QoD) typically varies due to unstable performance of ICT-components of these telemedicine systems. Therefore, telemedicine systems that support treatment guidance of

Prevalence of overweight/obesity and its association with fast food consumption among adolescents in Southern Ethiopia, 2022: a community-based cross-sectional study

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
Overweight and obesity are body mass index (BMI) for age Z-score > +1SD and > +2SD, respectively. Despite its largest contribution to overweight/obesity, there is little attention in our country about fast-food consumption.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Discontinuation of Heart Failure Pharmacotherapy in Older Adults With Frailty

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Guideline‐directed medical therapy (GDMT) improves outcomes in heart failure irrespective of frailty status. Nevertheless, the magnitude of frailty‐associated discontinuation of GDMT remains insufficiently studied.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Data Quality Taxonomy for Data Monetisation

open access: yes
This chapter presents a comprehensive taxonomy for assessing data quality in the context of data monetisation, developed through a systematic literature review. Organising over one hundred metrics and key performance indicators into four subclusters (Fundamental, Contextual, Resolution, and Specialised) within the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) framework ...
