Information Sciences, 1992Abstract Providing data availability is a prime consideration in database systems. Replication is a natural paradigm to increase the data availability in distributed databases. In this paper we focus on how to allocate the copies of a replicated database system to increase its fault tolerance.

Knowledge and Information Systems, 2000The user interface of data-intensive information systems may be described as a collection of semi-independent dialogues with underlying procedures accessing databases. It will be shown how to conceptualize dialogues via dialogue objects. These are organized in an object oriented fashion by dialogue classes modelled as extended database views.
