Fault Current Control and Protection in a Standalone DC Microgrid Using Adaptive Droop and Current Derivative

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2021
This article presents a novel fault detection, characterization, and fault current control algorithm for a standalone solar-photovoltaic (PV) based dc microgrids. The protection scheme is based on the current derivative algorithm.

Impact of Fault Current Limiter on VSC-HVDC DC Protection

open access: yes, 2016
Multi-terminal Voltage-Sourced Converter (VSC) High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission is expected to play a key role in future power transmission grids. Compared with AC transmission, DC transmission is more vulnerable to faults due to the lower

Modular Multilevel Converter DC Fault Protection [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2018
High voltage direct current grids will require the development of dc protections that provide fast fault isolation and minimize the disturbance caused to the existing ac power networks. This paper investigates how the dc fault recovery performance of a half-bridge modular multilevel converter (HB-MMC) is impacted by different dc protection design ...

A supercapacitor based enhancement technique for stand-alone surge protection circuits

open access: yes, 2013
With the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors predicting below-25nm feature-size VLSIs, powered by DC power supplies of less than 1V, protection against transients has become mandatory for modern electronic systems.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.
