Stabilizing Li-metal host anode with LiF-rich solid electrolyte interphase

open access: yesNano Convergence, 2021
The development of lithium (Li)-metal anode is high priority research to initiate next-generation Li batteries. Applying Li-metal in practical applications as anode still has many hurdles to clear away, such as low Coulombic efficiency and capacity ...

Metal Deficiency in Two Massive Dead Galaxies at z ∼ 2 [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2018
Abstract Local massive early-type galaxies are believed to have completed most of their star formation ∼10 Gyr ago and evolved without having substantial star formation since that time. If so, their progenitors should have roughly solar stellar metallicities (Z *), comparable to their values today.

2D upper bound analysis of ECAE through 2θ-dies for a range of channel angles [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2014
Equal Channel Angular Extrusion (ECAE), sometimes referred to as Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP), is a Severe Plastic Deformation technique. However the energy-power parameters of ECAE have not been fully addressed in previous known publications ...

Quantification of Dead Lithium via In Situ Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

open access: yesCell Reports Physical Science, 2020
Summary: Inhomogeneous lithium deposition or dendrite formation and occurrence of “dead lithium” fractions are challenging issues, hampering the commercial application of lithium metal batteries. Conditions and strategies for minimizing potential failure

Heavy metals in the Dead Sea and their coprecipitation with halite [PDF]

open access: yesHydrobiologia, 1990
After a prolongued period of stratification (about 300 years) the Dead Sea overturned in 1979 and again in 1982. Its waters became saturated with respect to halite and the massive precipitation of halite which occurred in winter 1982/83 has been monitored. We followed the fate of the heavy metals during this period of physical and chemical changes.

Study on Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells with Nonhumidification Using Metal Foam in Dead-Ended Operation

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Portable power sources have attracted increasing interest and attention, with a focus on the reduction of the system volume. Thus, portable power sources often use polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) systems with dead-ended operation—which are ...

Gas induced formation of inactive Li in rechargeable lithium metal batteries

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
The formation of electrochemically inactive, or “dead”, lithium limits the reversibility of lithium metal batteries. Here the authors elucidate the (electro)chemical roles of ethylene gas produced from electrolyte decomposition on the formation of ...
