Autopsy study of pediatric deaths

Childhood autopsies occurring during January 1997 to December 1999 were reviewed.Of the total 1,445 deaths autopsied, 441 (30.5%) were of pediatric patients.Of these deaths, 70.3% occurred during neonatal period, 8.6% in infancy, and 21.1% in childhood. Birth asphyxia (57.7%) was the most frequent mode of death in the neonatal period. Infections (67.2%)

Brain death

✓ “Brain death” was analyzed in 25 moribund patients with regard to the clinical evaluation of the patients and the significance of segmental reflexes and electroencephalographic recordings. It is concluded that a state of brain death in a patient with known irreparable pathology can be established solely on clinical grounds.

Each S completed a sibling-position questionnaire and the death-scales of Lester (2 ) and Boyar ( 1 ) , not anonymously. (a) Half of the Ss completed the death scales in the order AB and half in the order BA.

A Study of Deaths Involving Oxycodone

Abstract Nine deaths involving oxycodone were investigated to assess the contribution of this opiate to these fatalities. All except one of the bodies were subjected to a full autopsy by specialist pathologists with a subsequent thorough toxicological examination. No significant anatomical pathology was found at autopsy.
