An Ontological Architecture for Orbital Debris Data [PDF]

open access: yesEarth Science Informatics (Aug 2015) 9:67, pp.67-82, Springer, 2017
The orbital debris problem presents an opportunity for inter-agency and international cooperation toward the mutually beneficial goals of debris prevention, mitigation, remediation, and improved space situational awareness (SSA). Achieving these goals requires sharing orbital debris and other SSA data. Toward this, I present an ontological architecture

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

STar-DETR: A Lightweight Real-Time Detection Transformer for Space Targets in Optical Sensor Systems

open access: yesSensors
Optical sensor systems are essential for space target detection. However, previous studies have prioritized detection accuracy over model efficiency, limiting their deployment on resource-constrained sensors.

Unlocking the potential of tumor‐derived DNA in urine for cancer detection: methodological challenges and opportunities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

Space Debris -- Optical Measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Space debris is a major threat to the satellite infrastructure. A collision with even small particle, e.g. 1 cm of size, can cause a catastrophic event when the parent body, spacecraft or upper stage, will break up into hundreds of trackable fragments.

On‐treatment dynamics of circulating extracellular vesicles in the first‐line setting of patients with advanced non‐small cell lung cancer: the LEXOVE prospective study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LEXOVE prospective study evaluated plasma cell‐free extracellular vesicle (cfEV) dynamics using Bradford assay and dynamic light scattering in metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer patients undergoing first‐line treatments, correlating a ∆cfEV < 20% with improved median progression‐free survival in responders versus non‐responders.

Separation of microplastics from deep-sea sediment using an affordable, simple to use, and easily accessible density separation device

open access: yesMicroplastics and Nanoplastics
Microplastics accumulate in the environment but methods to extract particles from sediment for quantification and identification often lack accuracy and reproducibility.

SEM analysis of working surface in new manual endodontic instruments [PDF]

open access: yesStomatološki glasnik Srbije, 2020
Introduction The aim of this study was to analyze working surfaces of new hand endodontic instruments and to check possible existence of dirt or defects on working surface that resulted from manufacturing process using SEM.

Planetesimals in Debris Disks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Planetesimals form in gas-rich protoplanetary disks around young stars. However, protoplanetary disks fade in about 10 Myr. The planetesimals (and also many of the planets) left behind are too dim to study directly. Fortunately, collisions between planetesimals produce dusty debris disks.
