Rise velocity of small polyolefin plastics in a seawater tank exposed to natural conditions in Hawai’i

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Communications
Floating plastic is ubiquitous at the ocean surface, but the transport mechanisms associated with the type of particle and the effect of environmental parameters, including the presence of a biofilm on the polymers, are very limited.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

STar-DETR: A Lightweight Real-Time Detection Transformer for Space Targets in Optical Sensor Systems

open access: yesSensors
Optical sensor systems are essential for space target detection. However, previous studies have prioritized detection accuracy over model efficiency, limiting their deployment on resource-constrained sensors.

Quantitative evaluation of apically extruded debris in root canals prepared by single-file reciprocating and single file rotary instrumentation systems: A comparative In vitro study

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2021
Background: Prevention of the debris from extruding to the periapical region is an important aspect to be taken care of as its extrusion can result in pain, periapical inflammation, and delayed healing owing to the presence of highly infective components

A Spitzer IRS Study of Debris Disks Around Planet-Host Stars

open access: yes, 2010
Since giant planets scatter planetesimals within a few tidal radii of their orbits, the locations of existing planetesimal belts indicate regions where giant planet formation failed in bygone protostellar disks.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

Fate of ejected debris from the explosion of the rear surface of fused silica in the high-power laser facility

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optomechatronics, 2023
This study focuses on the issue of uncontrollable debris generated by laser-matter interactions in high-power laser facilities, which significantly impairs operational efficiency. The maximum motion distance of debris, referred to as the safety distance,

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Separation of microplastics from deep-sea sediment using an affordable, simple to use, and easily accessible density separation device

open access: yesMicroplastics and Nanoplastics
Microplastics accumulate in the environment but methods to extract particles from sediment for quantification and identification often lack accuracy and reproducibility.

Bayesian Adaptive Extended Kalman-Based Orbit Determination for Optical Observation Satellites

open access: yesSensors
As the number of satellites and amount of space debris in Low-Earth orbit (LEO) increase, high-precision orbit determination is crucial for ensuring the safe operation of spacecraft and maintaining space situational awareness.
