Decarboxylation of 2-keto fatty acids by brain

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1966
An enzyme system consisting of washed acetone powder of pig brain, adenosine triphosphate, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, magnesium, fumaric acid, and ascorbic acid was found to catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of 2-ketostearic acid.

In vitro oxidative decarboxylation of free fatty acids to terminal alkenes by two new P450 peroxygenases

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels, 2017
BackgroundP450 fatty acid decarboxylases represented by the unusual CYP152 peroxygenase family member OleTJE have been receiving great attention recently since these P450 enzymes are able to catalyze the simple and direct production of 1-alkenes for ...

Iterative Use of Regiocomplementary Flavin‐Dependent Halogenases Gives Access to Unique Halogenation Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
The halide motif is ubiquitous in organic synthesis, facilitating fine‐tuning of molecular properties and functionalization using substitution and cross‐coupling reactions. Combination of different flavin‐dependent tryptophan halogenases enables the installation of novel halogenation patterns on l‐tryptophan, which can be orthogonally addressed in ...

Mechanism of Decarboxylation of Pyruvic Acid in the Presence of Hydrogen Peroxide.

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Science, 2016
The purpose of this work was to probe the rate and mechanism of rapid decarboxylation of pyruvic acid in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to acetic acid and carbon dioxide over the pH range 2-9 at 25 °C, utilizing UV spectrophotometry, high ...

Integrating Visible‐Light Photocatalysis and Enzymes for the Stereoselective Synthesis of Alcohols and Amines

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
The integration between visible‐light photocatalysis and biocatalysis has the potential to greatly improve modern organic synthesis by combining the production of valuable synthetic intermediates under mild photochemical conditions with the high degree of stereoselectivity reached by enzymes. The review collects the recent efforts in the photoenzymatic

Hypervalent iodine(III)-mediated decarboxylative acetoxylation at tertiary and benzylic carbon centers

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
The decarboxylative acetoxylation of carboxylic acids using a combination of PhI(OAc)2 and I2 in a CH2Cl2/AcOH mixed solvent is reported. The reaction was successfully applied to two types of carboxylic acids containing an α-quaternary and a benzylic ...

Fluorescent Chitosan Hydrogels Based on Biomass‐Derived Carbon Dots for Toxic Aromatic Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
Carbon dots made from food waste via a microwave–ultrasound method show strong, pH‐stable fluorescence. Thermal pretreatment enhances their optical properties. Incorporated into chitosan hydrogels, these dots form reusable sensors for detecting aromatic pollutants in water.
