Muon decay [PDF]

open access: yesZeitschrift für Physik C Particles and Fields, 1992
The decay of the muon has been studied at PSI with several precision measurements: The longitudinal polarization P_{\mathrm{L}}(E) P

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Impact of Hall effect on energy decay in magnetohydrodynamic turbulence

open access: yes, 2003
We examine numerically the influence of Hall effect corrections to Ohm's law upon the decay of homogeneous compressible magnetohydrodynamic turbulence and conclude that there are no significant differences in global decay rate associated with the Hall ...

Convergent losses of decay mechanisms and rapid turnover of symbiosis genes in mycorrhizal mutualists

open access: yesNature Genetics, 2015
To elucidate the genetic bases of mycorrhizal lifestyle evolution, we sequenced new fungal genomes, including 13 ectomycorrhizal (ECM), orchid (ORM) and ericoid (ERM) species, and five saprotrophs, which we analyzed along with other fungal genomes ...

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.

Evidence for the decay X(3872)→ψ(2S)γ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Evidence for the decay mode X(3872)→ψ(2S)γ in B+→X(3872)K+ decays is found with a significance of 4.4 standard deviations. The analysis is based on a data sample of proton–proton collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected ...

Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay: 2015 Review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The discovery of neutrino masses through the observation of oscillations boosted the importance of neutrinoless double beta decay (). In this paper, we review the main features of this process, underlining its key role from both the experimental and ...

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

An Insight Into Beech Wood (Fagus Sylvatica L.) Degradation in Outdoors, Above Ground, Long-Time Exposure. Part 2: In-Time Evolution of Degradation, Destructive Evaluation After 7 Years and Influence of Exposure Situation [PDF]

open access: yesPro Ligno, 2012
The paper is referring to some results of amodified L-Joint test, within which control andtreated beech wood samples were exposed andexamined periodically for 7 years. The long-termprotective effects of some surface treatments andthe in-time evolution of
