Natural Decay Resistance of Wood

1975
This part of the Symposium was originally intended to deal with the decay process in resistant wood, as distinct from susceptible wood, but very little work has been done in this field. The present paper deals with the wider field of natural decay resistance. The topic has been comprehensively reviewed by Scheffer and Cowling (1966) and by Kumar (1971).

Time Decay Constants of Resistive Detectors

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2005
Several authors have studied the dependence of the detection efficiency or charge gain of a resistive detector on the counting rate. Most of these results assume a stationary regime and treat the dielectric as equivalent to a simple RC circuit. In order to verify the validity of this model we have investigated the transient behavior of a resistive ...

Perturbations of a resistive decaying equilibrium

Physica, 1974
The perturbation of a uniformly decaying equilibrium is studied within the framework of resistive magnetodynamics. If the time of decay of the equilibrium state is large, the eigenmodes are the same as in nonresistive MHD. Nonresistive instabilities persist but the oscillating displacements have an increasing amplitude and an increasing period.

Diffusion resistance and enzyme activity decay in a pellet

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1982
AbstractThe effective enzyme activity decay can be decreased by diffusion limitation in the immobilized pellet. Thiele modulus changes and/or poisoning of various enzyme forms are two phenomena which are influenced by diffusion limitation. This article considers these effects on enzyme decay as applied to glucose isomerase.

Fungal decay resistance of wood fumigated with chlorpyrifos

International Biodeterioration & Biodegradation, 2010
Disinfestation is the main purpose of fumigation and no subsequent and sustained protection for longer duration against risk of attack is afforded. The ideal fumigant is infact, one which leaves treated commodity unchanged in all respect. Although the effectiveness of chlorpyrifos as termiticide has been proven in laboratory and field test studies, no ...

Improved eddy-current decay method for resistivity characterization

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1994
Eddy-current decay is a unique, nondestructive method for determining the low-temperature resistivity of large samples of pure metal. Furthermore, it is the only means available for measurement of the residual resistivity ratio (RRR), /spl rho/(273 K)//spl rho/(4 K) of samples with shapes that do not lend themselves to conventional four-wire resistance

Variation in Static Decay Time With Surface Resistivity

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2013
The static decay time and the surface electrical resistivity are commonly used to specify the static performance of plastic films and sheets. While the surface electrical resistivity is easier to measure, the time needed for static to dissipate in a typical application is not easily found given the surface resistivity.
