Optical deceleration of atomic hydrogen

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2023
We demonstrate control over the motional degrees of freedom of a cryogenic hydrogen atomic beam using an accelerating optical lattice. For our method, we load metastable atoms from a cryogenic beam into a moving optical lattice, decelerate the lattice ...

Change of Direction Speed and Technique Modification Training Improves 180° Turning Performance, Kinetics, and Kinematics

open access: yesSports, 2021
This study aimed to examine the effects of change of direction (COD) speed and technique modification training on 180° turning performance (completion time, ground contact time [GCT], and exit velocity), kinetics, and kinematics.

The Antiproton Decelerator: AD [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1997
Abstract In view of a possible future programme of physics with low-energy antiprotons, a simplified scheme for the provision of antiprotons at 100 MeV/c has been studied. It uses the present target area and the modified Antiproton Collector (AC) in its present location. In this report the modifications and the operation are discussed.

Assessment of the possibility of shortening the landing distance of maneuverable aircraft

open access: yesВестник Самарского университета: Аэрокосмическая техника, технологии и машиностроение, 2023
The problem of implementing the landing of a maneuverable aircraft by a pilot on an undamaged section of a runway of minimum length is considered. A method of landing the aircraft is proposed, including movement along the landing glide path with minimum ...

Deceleration and Trapping of SrF Molecules [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2021
We report on the electrostatic trapping of neutral SrF molecules. The molecules are captured from a cryogenic buffer-gas beam source into the moving traps of a 4.5 m long traveling-wave Stark decelerator. The SrF molecules in $X^2Σ^+(v=0, N=1)$ state are brought to rest as the velocity of the moving traps is gradually reduced from 190 m/s to zero.

Evolutionary Algorithm Optimization of Zeeman Deceleration: Is It Worthwhile for Longer Decelerators? [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2019
In Zeeman deceleration, only a small subset of low-field-seeking particles in the incoming beam possess initial velocities and positions that place them within the phase-space acceptance of the device. In order to maximize the number of particles that are successfully decelerated to a selected final velocity, we seek to optimize the phase-space ...
