Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Contributions of declarative memory and prior knowledge to incidental L2 vocabulary learning

open access: yes, 2021
The bulk of second language (L2) vocabulary learning happens incidentally through reading (Rott, 2007;Webb, 2008), but individual differences, such as prior knowledge, modulate the efficacy of such incidental learning.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

The Effects of Type of Instruction of English Prepositions with Varying Degrees of Salience

open access: yesLenguaje
It is still unknown if different types of input exposure are equally effective at facilitating the learning of forms that vary in their level of perceptual salience.

Declaratively Querying and Visualizing Knowledge Bases in Xml [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The maintenance of large knowledge systems usually is a rather complex task. In this paper we will show that extensions or modifications of a knowledge base can be supported by appropriate visualizations techniques, e.g. by illustrating dependencies within the considered knowledge.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...
